Roughly one month in. Then out. What does this mean when applying for a job? I didn't do anything bad or get kicked out. Decided that I wanted to be a cop. ELS means entry level seperation. And a 5-17 is basically General Discharge-medical-other. However it covers a variety of things. None of which are great. Some can be bad though. I want a career in law enforcement. Local. Nothing Federal. Highway Patrol, or City Police. Any info appreciated. Thank you. Before this I worked for the state government for roughly 5 years. I am a hardworker. I don't hop from job to job. And Law Enforcement is something I could build the rest of my life around. If anyone knows anything regarding this when applying I'd appreciate it. I don't even know if its worth putting down. I don't think the Army would even consider me as enlisted. If you were in my position. How would you handle the application? Would you put anything for military? If so, what would I put? Etc etc. ANy info is great. Let me clarify. With only 1 month in and a general ELS discharge, I don't know if the army would recognize me as ever being enlisted. I knew someone way back when who shattered his foot in the marines after 5 months there. They let him go and he quit putting that he was in the military down on his application because they couldn't find any records to even verify that. Granted that was 6 or so years ago. The typical discharge for being in that early is a Chapter 11 "Failure to adapt" you can imagine what that entails. Mine wasn't that. I am a pretty down to earth guy and a job in law enforcement is the kind of "home-run" job I'd want.
