Can an American become a Mexican Federales Police Officer?
I want to move to Mexico and become a Mexican Federal Police Officer. I studied abroad there and want to move. Does anyone know if I can legally get that kind of job? What the requirements may be? How I would go about doing that or lead me to someone I may ask? I am a thin, white girl that speaks spanish but I am fit and strong. I would really like to be a patrol officer on the streets, not behind a desk. Do I have to work in the jails/prisons for a certain amount of time? Are there any rules/demands that they have that we aren't familar with in USA. I am considering making this my career and need more information. I would love to be a cop (in California) but I disagree with some of the laws that the police represent and in Mexico Their laws repesent what I stand for and this is why I am considering this. I dont stand for corruption and taking from the poor. Thanks for your response!

- Get your information from the Mexican Consulate. I believe that once you have lived in Mexico you can apply to be a Mexican Citizen. I just wonder about what you have commented on. You have millions of people fleeing into the U.S. for a better life and you are wanting to go to the place people flee from. First, think about going to school. Do an intership in Mexico, this will give you the opportunity to live there for a while. Reverse your thinking, Work for Americans, as an American living in Mexico. Now, that is the way to go!!!!
- American trying to get into Mexico eh? Don't hear that one too often, but I respect your choice! Unfortunately, it is almost just as hard for Americans to legally settle in Mexico, as it is for Mexicans wanting to settle in America. (Many people don't know that one of the largest groups of illegals in Mexico, are actually Americans..) Do you have any family ties with Mexico? That would probably be the easiest. I can't give you any detailed information on Mexican immigration laws though, and I would advise you to contact your nearest Mexican consulate, or the embassy in DC.
- Are you serious?? you want to move to Mexico??? There are millions of Mexicans trying to get out of Mexico (i.e. our illegal immigrant problem)..... I would think for a Gringo, it would not be a possibility and it would be too dangerous....
