The rising CDN dollar versus the US dollar?
There has been a lot of talk about the rising canadian dollar. It has affected Canada in a big way, for example loss of manufacturing jobs, cross border shopping, cheaper goods (supposedly), tourism, federal surplus... These are only a few things, I am pretty sure there are more issues. My question is: Does the benefits of the rising Canadian dollar versus the US dollar outweigh the cons? Will the Canadian go rise higher? for how long?

- No the benefits dont outweight the costs from Canada's standpoint. For a country like Canada, where your largest trading partner is the United States, a strong "loony" put your domestic market at a disadvantage, b/c for those of us in States, Canadian become to expensive, and if demand for Canadian product slows down, it will hurt the job market. On top of that, U.S tourist wont come to canada, b/c of unfavorable exchange rate (maybe that is a good thing, I dont no- just a little joke). I looked at the futures market, the march 2008 contract shows no major change in price. If you look at the rates on Nov 13, US $ had big advances. I honestly think that people have dumped the dollar to much and the U.S dollar will strentgth soon.
- Don"t know.
