Help me get this this federal goverment job?

I've applied for a job with the Federal Reserve. I know the job is very competitive; however, I’m very qualified for the job both through my professional work experience and my education degrees. I have a master’s degree from a USA accredited University and the degree is directly related to the job. I've learnt that getting a government job is somewhat dependent on who you know inside. As an extremely proud US citizen, I want to do everything I can do to at least get an interview. I need help, here, can anyone please tell me or advice me what I can do to at least get an interview. What have you done in the past that help you get an interview? The agency says "no calls please". I know this sound crazy, but I’m thinking of writing the top most manager of the department. All I need is an interview. Please give polite and courteous advice. Thanks JI

  1. If you have a great resume and are well qualified for the job, I'm sure you won't have a problem getting the interview. However, I just wanted to mention something. Federal Reserve is not a government agency per se. And you don't really have to know anyone "inside" to get a position with them. It is pretty much the same like applying to any other bank. Wish you luck!
  2. The federal hiring process isn't quite the same as applying at a local business. Did you follow each of the requirements in the announcement? You completely answered all of the questions in the KSAs and submitted all the required paperwork? No substitutions, no "interview" paperwork. Federal applications must be completed in full or your application won't make the first screening. While you may be fully qualified under the conditions in the announcement, you are competing with status candidates (current federal employees) and veterans, both of whom receive hiring preference points. Calling or submitting a "please interview me" letter probably won't help. Having a masters degree means you qualify for above a GS-7 rating and higher. If you have applied for anything below that, you're over-qualifed and won't get interviewed. All federal jobs are competitive everywhere. Getting your foot in the door will help you move up and across the organization. Good luck...
