Has this country has gone too far in helping illegal aliens and catering to minorities?
I know of a woman from Thailand that is here on a green card, is getting food and housing paid by the state (or federal)government, and her daughter (here legally) is getting paid (by the government) to take care of her!!! My mother-in-law has lived and worked her entire 75 years in the USA and can only collect a measily $485 a month in social security. Is it just me, or is there something drastically wrong with this? The government has lowered test scores for minorities trying for civil service jobs because a "percentage" of minorities are REQUIRED but they couldn't pass the damn tests! Isn't this lowering the quality of our services? I don't want a fireman that only got 70% on his test scores coming to my rescue when a person that scored 80% didn't get the job because that department was REQUIRED to pass the minority! Now many areas are forcing our school kids to learn Spanish because the spanish people don't want to learn English! Oh, and I can't say Merry Christmas any more!

- I think we need to help minorities because a lot of them have been put in a disadvantage. As far as illegal aliens, we need to crack down on this because it causes our taxes and health care costs to go up. It's ok to become citizens of the u.s. but they need to do it legally.
- I agree with you. It has definitely gone way too far, especially when people that never contributed one penny in taxes, etc, are collecting and receiving far more benefits than a person that was born here and paid taxes for years. And about the test scores - I think EVERYONE should be required to get the same score to pass, since we are all supposed to be created EQUAL. Or are they admitting they are not as smart? And I even go as far as to say about the fire fighters - I do not want a woman coming to my house that is too weak to help me or a loved one that is trapped because they lowered the weight requirement so she could be one. As for the language, my grandparents had to learn the language when they came here, so anyone that wants to live here should be required to learn it. Or, again, is a certain group of immigrants admitting they are not as smart?
- Absolutely not. It's funny how we see people as a threat, rather than a resource. I'd rather focus my attention on the Corporate Execs that are taking excess millions of dollars--running whole companies into the ground rather than to focus on the poor getting a few extra pennies. By the way--I agree that this country can do a whole lot better in helping the elderly like you mention. You're right, it's not fair--but I think we need to focus on the "big fish" rather than let them focus us our attention off of them and onto the poor.
- One who is confident of his superiority does not feel any anger when an inferior person is helped. He knows that no amount of assistance will be enough for the inferior person to rise to the level of the superior. The only reason someone would get angry about assistance to inferior groups is that he knows they are not inferior. The fear is that if they are not kept down, it might become known that some of them are in fact superior. That is the reason for oppression, to maintain the myth. Otherwise, there would be no need for it, would there? The cream always rises eventually.
- absolutely, they both (aliens and minorities) play on the sympathies of the rest of the country. theres a reason the u.s. Was the most powerful country in the world for so long and it wasnt because we were listening to illegals and minorities whine, it was because the red blooded american citizens ( black yellow purple and green white orange and "other") did what needed to be done to get the job done. now the aclu naacp and others continue to blame " the man " for everything thats wrong now, the very same "man" who made this country happen and its a shame. the illegals should go home, and the whining minorities should apologize for undermining the rules our forefathers laid out with good intention, instead of abusing the system every which way possible.
