forget about parties. what are your issues that need to be?

addressed for this country? I am a liberterian, and dont care who is president, runs congress, as long as the issues are taken care of. 1.protect the USA 2.stop illegal immigration, send them all home and protect the borders. 3.strong economy. to include no more offshore outsourcing. time to bring the jobs home and send the non US workers back to their countries. let americans do Americas work. 4.pay down the US debt, no more "talk" about reducing the defecit, pay off the 7 trill+ debt. 5.no more handouts to other nations to include no more US soldiers fighting in other countries in wars/police actions/peace actions that are not vital to the defense of the USA. 6.no more welfare of any kind from the federal level, to include public schools welfare. let the states and local communities take care of their own. ok, I dont want to hear repub this or lib that. I want your issues, not pointing fingers, cause both sides are the problem. Ellinorianne.. I agree about drugs, prostituition. I like to add gambling to that list also. I am not a drug user, nor do I want to be, but as long as it is controlled like tobacco/alcohol and sold only to adults, I have no problems. course I wish there was hookers when I was 16..hahaha Ellinorianne..sending home people who are illegally and legally in the USA and bringing/keeping jobs in America will drive up wages. As the available workforce shrinks, the pay goes up. kveryeffective,..I like the idea of term limits. but with a new twist. only the prez/vp are elected on a national scale. congress is elected locally/by states. let the states decide for term limits on their reps. butterfliesrfree.. I said to end fed welfare..let the states and locals take care of their own. not everything has to be a federal issue. actually, other than a military, and some fed depts like fbi, state and etc, nothing else really has to be a fed program. govenors working together can put into place programs also. Lettie D...I think that in todays world, that medicine/science should be a shared resource. Why should countries be pitted against each other to find cures for diseases? im all for stem cell research, as well as cancer, heart, etc.. why cant all countries pitch in and put the best scientists/doctors/etc to work together and come up with cures? now i am not a UN supporter at all, but this can be done with nations working together. keishabbwnj.. I hear you. Im all for a strong defense of our nation, and I think that we could have just bombed/rocketed/etc the people who were responcible for attacking the USA. and no we dont need un support, we are a sovereign nation and have the right to defend ourselves. ground troops should never ever be used in a civil war, or peace movements. MRJS..I hear you. I hate when companies take advantage of people. companies have the $$$ to hire lawyers, while the rest of us have just enough money to get buy. I do not think we need more fed laws, as I want less and less fed involvement in our lives.

  1. Allow stem cell research and cut some of the red tape in the VA system. I would add this to your list. My son is a Paralyzed Veteran.
  2. How can we forget about the parties when the Republicans have screwed this country up the last 7 years? We are in a war that is costing 200B a year. This election is all about sending the Republicans back to their home states, permanently. Then we will try to rebuild America from the damaged caused by the Republicans.
  3. I agree with some of what you say but welfare IS URGENT -- it is a big deal. Problem is....there are so many families in trouble BECAUSE of jobs being lost because of outsourcing so remember that too and they're trying. I was recently laid off and we've had some real hard times (cancer, etc.) and needed help ---- we can't just let welfare not be addressed - it SHOULD be investigated though. I don't mind when I work that part of my taxes pay to help others. I can live with that. Others have helped us.
  4. lofty goals but go ahead and shoot for the stars. It's a good list
  5. Borders, language and culture Deal with the illegal aliens Deal with repeat gang offenders SEVERELY (black, white, brown ethnicity doesn't matter) Physical protection of our nation LIMITED welfare for those who have LOST their jobs. Limited amount and limited time, no exceptions. I don’t care for overseas outsourcing but, companies should be FREE to do what they like. However, by eliminating socialists restraints on our corporations they will be more free to succeed and therefore, won’t have to go overseas. Eliminate the influence of communist organizations such as the ACLU Promote freedom of religion not freedom FROM religion (Christianity in particular) That’s about all I need.
  6. 1 secure our borders and deal with illegals. 2 Fight terrorist 3 stop government pork 4 get able bodied people off welfare and to work.
  7. I am not a libertarian but I think drugs should be legal as well as prostitution. All the time and money being spent on this could be redirected to the borders. Affordable healthcare and education for all, including vocational schools. Living minimum wage to encourage people to reconsider jobs that they would otherwise outsource to immigrants. What's the point of working forty hours a week and you can't make ends meet. Challenge all Universities and colleges to find a way to downsize Government and erradicate redundant angencies. I do not think becoming isolationists will help us, we need to find a balance. Compared to other industrialized nations, we don't give as much.
  8. Umm...sounds good except for #1. 'Protect the USA' has an ominous 'Patriot Act' sound to it. Of course, I think that the defense of our country is important. I don't think that shortcutting the Constitution is the way to protect our citizens, though. This one phrase (Protect the USA) is a 'deal breaker', as far as I'm concerned. I would want ALOT of details from any canidate that spoke in such general terms about such an important issue. I would want to know his stance on the Patriot Act, on defense spending, on the 'War on Terror' and on the mess in Iraq. These are all VERY thorny issues, and 'hot buttons' for many Americans.
  9. my main issue would be the war in Iraq. with family members over there or about to go over there i'm really concerned.
  10. Take a buzz saw to all the levels of buracies in the government. Before they pass a law they have to take one off the books. Flat tax PERIOD so IRS can be just a floor. The tax code is 1 page you make so much 10% goes to the government. G-d requires 10% and look as all He has done with it. Publish all ear marks in public record. If Congress wants a pay increase they have to put it to a public vote. The president has term limits so shall Congress. Take care of the vets we owe them BIG time. Slash entitlement programs. For the poor get them to work. Even it is picking up trash along the highway or sweeping floors. Teach them the work ethic. That is my addition to the list.
  11. One of my concerns is the growing intelligence gap between corporations and average citizens. Corporations are very sharp today about how to extract money from us. They do it contractually. They do it quietly. They even find a way to make us like it. My Verizon plan offers a new phone every two years. That's great! I thought. But, you have to be really, really careful. In the store, none of the prices are real. They are all "rebate prices". To actually get that price requires a bunch of paperwork and waiting from 4 to 6 weeks for a rebate. I call it "borrowing our money and hope we don't ask for it back". I really don't like that stuff. Also, they automatically renew the contract for two years. Another example is car insurance companies. They want us to pay the entire balance up front. Meanwhile, we are earning money weekly, biweekly, or monthly. They want it 52 weeks in advance, otherwise there is a convenience FEE for paying monthly. To me that's legalized stealing. At Shaw's grocery store I have to use a card. I can shop without it, but the tab would be 10% to 25% higher. Yes, 25%. One day, if I didn't use the card, that's how much EXTRA I would have paid. Shaw's insists that it's a "savings card". I in return insist that it's a "stealing card". The pricing schemes that grocery stores use is a nuisance. Four cans of corn for three dollars. OK, 75 cents each. How much to just buy one? OK, it's 89 cents. Total pain, for nothing. We're getting rooked all over the place. Nickel and dime stuff that can really add up. It looks perfectly legal. Most of the time we're in a hurry and wouldn't know how to fight it anyway. So people "just pay".
