i read, in a VA website that veteran preference in federal jobs only apply up to the rank.......?
of either captain or major, i dont quite remember, i think this is wrong, i believe a general should get veteran preference. i appreciate any opinions on this subject

- Sir/Mam, veteran preference in federal or state jobs has nothing to do with rank. The preference is allowed 10points for his or her veteran status period. Yet I may add, vet has to be equally or better qualified for the position, but the 10 points my bring them above anothers score. ok? SSG/RTD, U.S.Army

- You get Veterans preference for being in the military it has nothing to do with rank. 5 points for being in the military and 10 points if you are service connected. I work at a VA hospital.
