i am filling out a resume need background check to remember employment?

i cant remember the exact dates of my past employment and i am filling out an application but i don't want to put down the wrong dates because i know federal agencies check. does anyone know an easy way to find this info?

1. the only way i can think of is phoning your previous employers or just putting the years you worked e.g. Microsoft 2004-2007
2. Call your employer. In the past I have put dates that were close but I made sure not to go over on my estimates. I am not sure if that was right or wrong, but my previous employer was no longer in business so it wasn't like a background check would have done any good hehehe (although, I probably would have gotten a great reference from them...) Call the employer- as long as you weren't fired, they typically don't mind hearing from people who worked from them and will have that information on file. Good luck getting the job!!!
3. I would think that so long as you know the general dates, you should be fine. If you don't, just fill it out to the best of your knowledge. Employers will understand if you don't remember your employment history. What they don't want is for you to purposely lie about it. In filling out applications, I don't even list my last employer because I only worked for them for three months. I've sought advice from several other people about this and they have all recommended the same thing: in listing my employers on an application, skip that most recent and begin with the one before it (since I only worked there three months). Also, in my job hunt, I've mentioned to several employers, "I didn't list my most recent employer on my resume because I only worked there for three months". All of them seemed to understand. So again, I would say fill it out to the best of your knowledge. You might even try emailing or calling them if you really have no clue. I do hope this helps.
