Is criminal justice a marketable major?
I'm currently a CJ major in college and am wondering if a BA in Criminal Justice is relatively marketable outside of the field of CJ. It takes awhile to get into any type of federal law enforcement position so I'll need to find some type of suitable employment until then. How do employers view a major in Criminal Justice?

- You could stay in CJ and make it marketable if you move to a high-crime area and become a consultant. (You could even try some Lat. Am. countries that are having trouble with that!!)
- Yes, absolutely. Since the U.S. had degenerated into a quasi-police state and has the world's largest and fastest growing prisoner population there are PLENTY of opportunities. ``God bless America?'' Yeah, RIGHT!
- You can work in the private sector as a loss prevention officer. Every retail store has one of those. You basically deal with the people that are caught stealing things, etc. Also private security agencies.
- Certainly you will be better off in a field related to CJ, such as probation, juvenile diversion prevention, etc. Your BA is a general entry into many other fields, but you will have to sell them on how you are qualified. Remember any BA prepares you how to think, articulate you ideas, build an argument, etc. This is what is required in any job.
