How do you apply for a federal employment job?
I find a lot of jobs on-line, but the web sites require paid subscription services. Shouldn't this information be free somewhere?

- You're right, and the information IS free somewhere -- no cost to view the information and no cost to apply for jobs. Check out the official web site for job opportunities with the U.S. government: http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/
- Go to usajobs.com and click search jobs. The website is self explanatory. Select state/location where you would prefer to work and view available jobs. If you see something that you feel is suitable for you, then start the application process directly from the website. There are instructions on the website. Can't guarantee that you'll be hired but but there's always a possibility, it's a start, and you're taking action to get employed. usajobs.com Is absolutely free. It's right from the horses mouth.
- Go to www.usajobs.com. That is the official website for government employment.
- As mentioned before, use the www.usajobs.gov website - it's the maintained by the federal gov't as a one-stop shopping for gov't jobs. You can also access individual agency sites, like www.fbi.gov but these positions should also be listed on the first one. In order for your application to be considered, you must complete all the requirements. If there are KSA's, fill them out completely and thoroughly. Respond quickly for request for forms/clarification. After applying, do not expect to be notified if you aren't hired. The hiring agency is simply overwhelmed and does not have the manpower to respond to the thousands of applicants not hired. Do call the phone number on the job posting for information after your application is processed.
