- We've tried. But the Quebecois simply won't bury the hatchet. English have come time and time again, yet found that the ground is frozen solid. They keep trying to separate; it really upset the Quebekers when their soverignty referendum was defeated... I think it was something like 52-48... A close run. National unity is one of the greatest problems in Canada. Trouble is, most French-Canadians are antiwar, while most English Canadians are pro-war, reflected in both the world wars when conscription was introduced. They tried to have a "silent revolution" I think in the 70's-90's, which involved kidnapping people a petty attacks, but nothing ever came of that. The frenchies try to run away but we ALWAYS drag them back; with, or without a net and spear.
