  1. absolutly computers are all about binary & hex numbers computers dont see letter they convert binary 0101010101 into letters if you go to run and type calc use the sientific calculator if u wanna explore binary and hex numbers but yes if you can work microsoft excel, quickbooks and other such programs you wont have a problem another sugguestion is take the excel part of the mos or better yet take the whole exam go to certify4less.net to buy the voucher for 60.00 aned become a Microsoft Office user Specialist
  2. It is possible but would depend highly on your experience and any additional training or education you have in IT or soft. engineering. You'd need to be familiar with a lot of different technologies for starters. It's tough for new grads without any experience to land jobs because most employers want people who know stuff. Your work experience is in a completely different field, so you'll be in the same boat as a new grad, but without their education. If you've taught classes in comp. sci, or have any experience in the field, then that would help. Otherwise, try to get a position part-time. Any computer designations will show that you're serious about the field and know a thing or two. If it's possible, just take some classes at your local univ. so you can show that you're also a bit educated. If there are part-time certificates in programming, then take those. Network, network, network with anyone in the field, and keep educating yourself.
