- Just tipe in "mining" and "sustainability" or "communities". The sustainable development of mines is an issue as the resources are finite or subject to product fluctuations which make employment unstable. Another problem is that the profit of mining are being kept in corporation and doesn't trickle down to the local communities. MIning is specialised so workers are often brought in from other areas. Specific problems in this regard is experienced in Canada and Australia where workers are flown in with supplies from mayor urban centres and kept in a separate area away from the local communities. These communities get nothing. This is all from a developmental perspective as that is my field.
