Recently, in Akron, Ohio, our city government officials did a councilman a favor by hiring his 23 year old daughter to run our counties animal shelter. She has NO EXPERIENCE in running a facility like this. She is a college dropout, and a former secretarty to the prior animal warden who blatantly let animals be abused--SEVERELY. Therefore, she is just as guilty in the abuse of the animals as he is. There were many other very qualified individuals who wanted to apply for the job but were not allowed. The job was not posted and no interviews were given to find the best candidate. Does this seem right to you? No, I would never hire her. I own 5 dogs and I barely trust anyone to handle my dogs. Someone higher up than her daddy needs to look at that and take proper action. You have all the right to be mad about this.
I am glad I don't live down there in C. Falls anymore for this simple error of how that area is run. That whole situation is BS. I would take it up with the city.
The matter should be taken up with the Mayor, and the A.S.P.C.A, This does seem like favoritism, If there are qualified people with seniority, and genuine skills and compassion, to look after these animals; they SHOULD be considered first for the job. Also, Elected officials can be Un-elected!
I don't thinks so!! I would hire a experinced person who is a animal lover. It is fine to be upset about that, I understand. Why don't you see if you can do anything about it with your neighbours??
If I hated animals, I would; since I do not hate animals, I wouldn't. I would suggest you notify your State department of finance and administration (exact name varies a bit by state), as they are responsible for insuring that this type of thing does not go on in cities in their state.

IS IT ILLEGAL FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO DO THESE TYPE OF "FAVORS" FOR EACH OTHER START A PETITION IN YOUR AREA CONTAINING AS MUCH INFO AS YOU CAN GATHER AND GET AS MANY SIGNATURES AS YOU CAN,THEN CONTACT YOUR LOCAL MEDIA. THE MEDIA IS GREAT WITH THESE TYPES OF THINGS-ESPECIALLY WITH IT BEING AN ELECTION YEAR. WE NEED TO GET BACK CONTROL OF OUR GOVERNMENT AND STOP THE ABUSE OF INNOCENT ANIMALS. Well, to be honest, it has nothing to do with her being a college dropout, or a former secretary. It has more to do with her experience in working with/for animals. NO ONE should be running an animal shelter that abuses animals, that just doesn't make sense! It sounds like what we have here are city government officials with small town mentality who still do things the "good ol' boy" way. Here in San Francisco we have an SPCA that is used as an example for other cities to follow, why don't you check contact them? Start a "stink" about this! Organize a group , gather all your facts, and go above their heads to the proper authorities (for a matter like this) and get this problem exposed to the whole country, (your off to a good start)! Nobody is above the law!
well she is 23 and she dropped out of college. not good now she is having things handed to her great for the world... i wish i had things handed to me. the point of her being a former secretary. well why is she a former did she quit at the other place if she did then maybe she new it was wrong but didnt know what to do to fix it.. have her take a polly graph see is she perticipated if she did then get rid of her.. I thnk somone who has proven themselves and worked hard at the shelter shoul run it not some school drop out.. now if she went bakc to school and showed she was trying to improve herselve then give her a chance but as far as the abuse goes just because she was there doesnt mean she is guilty of it.. i work as a police officer and just because somone gets into a fight doesnt mean we all did. there is alot of stuff that goes on in a department tht im sure i dont know anything about and just cause i work here doesnt mean i am guilty of it too!!!!!
