How would someone who is temporarily disabled get government assistance without going on unemployment?
I have a friend who because of an accident can't return to work for a month. His company does not have short term disability payments. What type of assistance is available to people in that situation without him having to quit his job and go on unemployment. He’s afraid that he won’t have enough money, since he’s not getting a paycheck, to pay for rent, bills and groceries. We live in Ohio if that helps.

- veterans with disabilities can go to the VA for assistance or heres a hint he can apply and get emergency help from the united way and the local county welfare agency this is exactly why we give to the local and nation united way campaign its for all folkes that work or cant work its also got more benefits for you at united way if your a member of a union but thats not needed catholic services will pay a rent or mortgage one time or major bills also salvtion army will pay a morgage or rent or a major bill call the landlord or the gas and electric most will take a small or token payment for a month like the interest on your note instead of the whole payment , your church or any other that feed the hungry also pays bills for the poor or injured as a part of public services ask at the office also theres a list at the voluntary action center in your town the salvation army social services coordinator can give him and you a list if he cant do all this then maybe a relative or friend can go and take his records call first good luck ive told you how to get all his bills paid for a month and then fed for the month ,, the charities and churches pay rent ounce every six-months so if you use each ounce then you can only pay rent for half a year by alternating it ,,,
- contact the local state department of human services/ or the department of economic security. they will be able to get him help the fastest. (federal government does not do short term disability). the quickest way for him to get income is to go on unemployment, see if he can make arrangements with his boss to get rehired.
