Does California have any free mental health plans?
My boyfriend (and I) cannot afford healthcare, and our jobs do not provide insurance. Does anyone know of a healthcare plan in California that is government-run and free (for psychiatric care/medications?) ?

- Of ALL the states in the nation, you would think that California would. Especially if it deals with mental health.
- contact the drug companys, as many will give your meds free if you cant afford them and doctors have free samples in their office to give patients too.there are church es that have conselors that charge on how much you can afford and the rest is paid by goverment grants. you really have to call.ask and seek on your own. I live in indiana so i only know for here.i hope this is some help
- Yes California does. Try calling Behavior Health Care Services. Or the BHCS Consumer Affairs. A lot of services are provided in the Mental Health area for people in the Bay Area. Good Luck!!!
- Yes they do. BUT depending on how much you make they may have you come out of pocket for some of it. You need to call your county mental health department and they will be able to to help or tell you to ggo and aplly for Medi-cal.
