When the US government pays people so much to be idle, does it make sense they resist entry level jobs?

Public Comments

  1. No, it's an abused system....too lenient.
  2. this is funny as hell...i work for the government and i'm on yahoo at this very second!! you are ingenious
  3. Of course. It's actually harder to get OFF of welfare than it is to get ON it. The system has millions of workers whose best interest is to have as many idle people as possible, hence the the ever-growing power of the politics of creating dependent people.
  4. Since Clinton signed the bill that did away with perpetual welfare, and required job training, might I ask what you're talking about?
  5. And you offer as proof the benefits are so great what, where's your source, show me a credible link, or are you just spouting crap you've heard that's entirely anecdotal and has no basis in reality
  6. It makes sense for some of the people. Working at a McDonalds is not even considered a real job by some employers. Why go to all that trouble to work your butt off at a dirty job when the govt pays you to stay home. Also, some people have little kids to look after, and after paying for a babysitter, their income from their job is practically nothing.
  7. Welfare was reformed during the Clinton administration. Able bodied recipients must find jobs or lose their benefits.
  8. If I can make $2200.00 per month (that's $13.75 per hour for 40 hours per week tax free). Why should I work for anything less than that plus taxes plus something extra for my time(let's say another $2200.00 per month. That's approx $4600.00 per month to be worth my while. Everyone who believes the welfare reform is still active hasn't kept up with what is happening as it was kicked back to the old system under a new name and bumped up. Housing starting out $650.00 after 2 years $875.00 four years $1100.00 food starting $175.00 after 2 years $230.00 after 4 years $265.00. Medical starting at $290.00 and up utilities ((Gas $195.00and up (( Electric $230.00 and up (( water $150.00 and up (( trash $75.00 and up (( Sewer $35.00 and up (( Teliphone $195.00 and up school lunch program $160.00 and up Clothing allowance $165.00 and up At least this is what is being paid local
  9. How about a link to just how much they are being "paid", or is your statement just more bluster?
