Would teaching be considered one of them?? Public Schools? I wanted a certain job and they lied to me just to get me into boot camp in bootcamp i found out the lie and asked for them to fix it and they refused so I bailed.

- I don't see why you would be barred from anything,,,,, if you have the right to join,,, you should have the right to leave,,,,,
- Depends on the discharge you received.....dishonorable? You're toast.
- I hope so.You inlisted? whats your trouble. You just want to sit back and let the others do the work? are you too much of a coward to see it trough? I served my time and was damn proud .Many good men had to go trough the same thing. If you couldn't cut it in the service you have a rude awakening coming to you.Real life is hard to my Friend and there is only one way out.. now are you man enough to take what life has to offer.I doubt it your not man enough for anything COWARD
- Knowing what type disharge you were given would help. When you say you "bailed", does that mean you desserted? Like in A.W.O.L.? If your discharge was less than Honorable, you probably are limited in where you can find work, government or otherwise. Any business owner can refuse to hire you under these conditions and many will refuse based upon their own patriotism. It sounds a great deal like you were trying to blackmail the Marine Corps. You promised to do a job for them & you didn't do it. Life is not always fair, but life is what we make it. The Marine Corps IS a government job. So you walked away from one government job; I wouldn't expect to walk into another.
- You sound like Oscar, i'm suprised if it is you, but it depends on what you did, if you went awol, you will actually get arrested if you haven't served the time yet, and you won't get a government job cause of your article 15, but if you gave up, then no, you won't be barred
- By bailed do you mean WENT AWOL. If so you are a wanted criminal and they are looking for you now. If not than you are a normal person and it will have little affect on your life. Except if you go out for jobs that require you to have loyalty to the government.
- Not no, but HELL NO! (Of course that's provided you didn't go awol or something like that). Most likely you just got a standard discharge...they actually do this much more often than many (civilians) know. In fact, I would bet, and no I don't know this for sure, that at least a quarter of everyone who makes it to boot camp, does not make it through the AIT they initially sign up for. Some are medically discharged, some double tap, etc. As for you though, you should have no trouble finding a job. You won't be disqualified because of this.
- neddie has a civilian's view of the military. Although, in truth I suspect that much of the story is missing.... How did you "bail out"? Did you go AWOL/become a deserter? Were you deemed unfit? Did you ask for a hardship discharge? Often, the military will list people who either realize the enormity of their mistake or are deemed unfit by the military, as having a either and ELS Entry Level Separation, or a General Discharge less than Honorable Conditions. If you haveeither of these two categories, you aren't likely barred per se, but many employers won't hire someone who has demonstrated a problem. If you have a Bad Conduct Discharge or a Dishonorable Discharge, good luck finding any work. If you were put out because the terms of your enlistment could not be met, you would not be restricted from seeking other government employment. This however is rare.
- So basically your dumb@$$ didn't read your contract fully and then went crying to mommy when you didn't get your way. So what you going to do when you get a room full of unrully kids bail on them too.
- no. unless you were chaptered. then you aren't even barred, but employers have the right to require your DD 214, and that will show why you were put out or why you got out of the military. this, if it shows anything negative, can influence employers, government or private.
- Sorry that you have such a sad story. No one lied to you except you.
- It all depends... if you got a DD-214, you're screwed.
- It would pretty much depend on what type of discharge you received when you left the military. If it was an "Honorable" discharge, you should have as much opportunity and access to government employment as any other veteran. If it was a "Dishonorable" discharge, you probably do not qualify for government work. If you "bailed out" (I take this to mean you went AWOL), then I doubt you received an Honorable Discharge. On the other hand, If the discharge burns, see a doctor ASAP :D
- Depends on what your discharge was.
- Not barred, but you do not earn Veterans Preference either. Go to OPM.gov for informaiton on how a failed bootcamp will affect you. I got lied to as well when I went to Army boot camp, but I found out AFTER I graduated. At that point, I just kept on going. SHould have told them to F---Off.
- Good for you. The Marine Recruiters all lie to get people into the Marines. And "NO" you are not barred from Government jobs. Many people have Government jobs and have never been in the military.
- How was it that you bailed? I was in the Marines and remember vividly that you just don't bail! Did you fail a drug test and it just caught up to you that late? If so forget the government job. On what gowns did you leave boot camp? Good or bad? I've known guys at Paris Island held for 9 months for physical treatment before they left the Island just for a broken bone. How was it you so conveniently just "bailed" Sounds suspect to me. Please explain...
- personally, I don't want a quitter teaching my child... nor do I want you in government service... hopefully you have a career in the ditch digging industry. What kind of integrity do you have? ethics? spine? when you sign on the dotted line... you stick to it... "there is no crying in baseball" and none in the Marines!
- If you were honorably discharged then you can go into any job, however, employers might look poorly at your not finishing something you started.
- Some of these people need to watch their mouths. Not everyone is cut out for the military thats what basic is for. Infact the military ALWAYS lose the most people in their first six month of service. Unless you have done something horribly wrong then its usually an uncharacterized discharge. This shouldn't bar you from jobs, including re-enlisting, but its possible you may need a waiver in the future. As for you other people shouting COWARD you should examin yourselves. If your not a servicemember or veteran then your talking out your ass. If you are, then well, thats just how we roll isn't it. We pick out the weaker ones to leave us with a strong force with people you'd want fighting next to you. (To bad Jessica Lynch didn't get weeded out, all the way in Iraq wondering what SPORTS was)
- You can get a government Job. You need to get your DD 214 and see what kind of discharge you had and if it's Honorable you should be ok. The only way to know for sure if you can get the job is to apply. If they don't hire you they don't hire you. There are other jobs.
- Don't worry about having bailed - you will find a job no sweat !! Heck, people can even become president in this country, no matter how much dirt they have sticking to themselves and how much they lie.... surely, you will find a teaching job !
- If the definition of "bailed out" is AWOL you wont be able to hold any government jobs. If you fail by another means it will be more difficult to get those government jobs but you will still be able to put in for those jobs. As for teaching jobs that would entirely depend on where you applied and what their hiring criteria is. Good luck!
- If you went AWOL they are looking for you. Contractual obligations say you must be there. If dishonorable or other than honorable you wont get any govt job. that's the way they will look at it
- I don't know if you are or not but you should be. No one likes a quitter. Quitters are pussies.
- Should have done your homework. When you raise your right hand the needs of the service come first.
- What kind of discharge? AWOL, dishonorable, what? Can't answer without the facts. dp
- as long as your not a child mulester i don't think it should matter or a child abuser of course
- YES!!!
