  1. The Navy has civilian police at many of their installations. Police officers for the Department of the Navy are charged with the protection of life, property, and Constitutional rights of individuals citizens. They are responsible for preventing/deterring thefts and other situations such as explosions, fire, accidents, trespassing, sabotage, terrorism and preserving peach. They enforce federal laws, state laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, Navy regulations, and local installation instructions. Although they are all federal police officers with full arrest powers, at some locations they perform more security related duties on a daily basis. At some locations, they do more law enforcement. You have to apply via the United States Office of Personnel Management when openings exist.
