why does the federal government gets so invoved in Equal Employment Opportunity?

1. Equal Employment Opportunity was effected into law to avoid discrimination on basis of sex, race, national origen, religious faith, etc. Without this law, some companies would employ only the type of personnel they like to associate with without regards for the qualification of other applicants. That is why the government is involved. This is a good law and should not be mistaken with the controversial Affirmative Action. (If you are working in a school report, you should ask your parents whether you may use the comment on Affirmative Action or not).
