Disabled - Federal Government Job Question?
I have a disability that sometimes requires me to become hospitalized with little or no notice. I'd say on average three times a year for 7-10 days. It's life threatening. I really want to work for the federal government, specifically the SSA. I graduate from college in a year with a bachelors degree. I was wondering how likely they'd be to fire me for a problem such as this? I'd be a hard worker. I have no crimminal record and good credit. I'd appriciate any input.

- Well congulations on wanting to work, instead of staying home and watching life go by. I think the SSA would be happy to have you working for them instead of paying you on SSDI. And they can't refuse to hire you, because of a medical condition. In fact, people with disabilities have a better chance on working for the government, than those without one...good luck...
- The federal government doesn't discriminate against any disabilities. It is truely an equal opportunity employeer. Now, that being said, check out the following site www.usajobs.opm.gov THis is the listing for all federal jobs... You can apply for a position at any point in time if there are vacancies, and if the job requires a degree, then you can apply as long as you are within nine months of obtaining it... Good luck.
