Why not use the senior citizens in government support jobs?

In this "Depression" our government: (US) is afraid of the retirement costs of the "baby boomers" why not give the baby boomers preference in hiring as they have for disabled, hispanics, soldiers, two or more races, blacks etc? Do we really need or, want "preferences" i.e. Afirmative Action, Equal Oportunity Employment incentives anymore?

1. I agree that the US should encourage companies to hire those close to retirement. It would ease the burden on Social Security (and the burden on taxpayers) as well as help those who are financially not ready to retire. Good idea!
2. ???? So MORE younger people are out of work, making the unemployment problem WORSE, as well as being unfair toward those who paid into the system all their lives, and are physically ready to retire? Social Security is fixable with some tweeks. Forcing 80 year olds to work, and thereby denying 30 year olds jobs would be bad for everyone.
