Can Indian Union Government or state Government modify the reservation system?

When the total world is seeing towards India as potential economic developing country, why the Indian union government or State government is still entertaining the reservation system. Is it not good that if the same is modified, like no reservation quota for university of collage seats it will common for every body with out any consideration in the qualifying examinations, and the consideration what the reservation quota people are getting the same type of consideration to be followed in the salaries and perks for them when come to the employment.

  3. Yes,Union govt.can modify/reduce the reservation system, but they donot want to,they want incompetent to get admission into quality educational institutions even after getting less marks, this these politicians want to go on thus they will get the student & his family votes, sympathy. The student & family gets which they donot deserve so are happy, politicians get elected by these people, make again money, are not interested in country development but in self development.India is bad example of this wicked game going on,eligible and competent are left out which in a way, knowledge is insulted.
  4. Union Government has got complete powers under The Constitution of India to make any change in Reservation System-- They can even altogether abolish Reservation System -- But many politicians are not going to do that to fulfill their own greedy political benefits which could be achieved by incompetent politicians only through Vote Bank Politics through rising Reservation Percentage to unreasonable proportions.
  5. Reservation and Corruption are two virus eating our country. Reservation quota has crossed 50% mark and soon it may go to 60 to 70%... courtesy our political leaders. Dr. Ambedkar gave this reservation quota for 10 years only.
  6. A lot of people in India are till today highly disadvantaged lot, either socially or economically, they do not have much opportunities, and in such GENUINE cases, i wouldnt mind some sort of special privileges granted to these have-nots, so that they can have a better life. BUT, the current scenario of granting reservations to only the so-called socially backward castes is a big injustice coz many people who are very much capable and highly placed in the society, still take advantage of reservation, esp when it comes to their kids...such cases must be reduced by the govt...... but i am not totally against the reservation, i am against the criteria used for it....
