Independence Independence means the creation of an English Parliament having full sovereignty over her own affairs and the right to choose her own system of government. The English Parliament will be formed from the current British Parliament at Westminster, but with the removal of all non-English based MPs. Independence would give England the same rights and the same responsibilities as other nations. It would give us a voice on the world stage and a say in international bodies like the UN and G8. With an English government, independence would also bring greater freedoms for individuals, families and communities within a society built on common interests. An independent nation state of England would unite her people; give them a country of their own, and a country to be proud of. A Modern Democracy. The FREE ENGLAND PARTY wants England to have what other countries take for granted – the freedom to decide what kind of society we want to live in and how we want to interact with the world around us. As individuals, we value our own independence. We accept that it is entirely natural to make our own decisions, to earn and spend our own money, and to take responsibility for our own lives. Why should we settle for anything less for our country? As a nation, we accept the independence of other countries as normal. We do not think it strange that the people of Australia and The United States run their own affairs. We would not expect the people of New Zealand or Canada to ask another nation to take decisions for them. Why should the people of England be any different? Most of us also want our communities to have more freedoms. We want to have a greater say in deciding how our public services should be funded and delivered, we want to participate in decisions which affect the environment around us and we want to contribute more to the communities we live in, but it won't happen unless we start by taking control of our country and taking decisions for ourselves. The Present The British government has control of crucial areas like employment, the health service, education, the economy, taxation, benefits, pensions, transport, immigration and asylum, defence, international affairs, and everything else to do with England. There are MPs from other nations that are controlling these powers, and increasingly, these areas are being handed over to the European Union. Our freedoms, values and liberties are constantly being eroded by people we never elected. The FREE ENGLAND PARTY wants to see an English Parliament, rather than the UK government and the EU having these powers. This would give us equality with other nations. With independence an English Parliament would be able to take decisions on all matters that affect England. Successive British governments have caused immense damage to England and her people. Mass immigration has affected our public services and housing, the constant increases in taxation has made it harder for families to make ends meet, our soldiers have been sacrificed in illegal wars, and our justice system is inadequate. The British state has ignored the plight of the English and if we are to be a success, it needs to be ended. Our nation needs a government of the people, for the people, by the people. In other words, putting England and her people first. The 300-year old Union is no longer fit for purpose. It was never designed for the modern world. It has served its purpose and is preventing England from self-development. The FREE ENGLAND PARTY believes the nations of the United Kingdom should be equal, self-governing nations – friends and partners - free to make our own choices. Planning For Success Independence would enable England to become more successful. Many other countries have higher levels of economic growth and living standards than England. Self-government gives those nations the power to shape their country for the better. England could have this too. England possesses 3 out of 5 of the world’s top universities, 4 out of the top 10. We have the world’s largest financial centre, and we are world leaders in science and technology. These are all good achievements but we need to safeguard them. Lack of proper investment is leading to a growing lack of confidence in these areas. An independent England will ensure that our achievements are maintained and expanded on. England has no natural resources except her people, and it is in people we need to invest. Our history shows we are capable of producing men and women who have made valuable contributions to the advancement of humankind. An independent England would design policies that ensured her people reached the highest possible level of attainment. With independence, England could develop an economy based on science and technology. We could pursue economic policies designed specifically for our circumstances, to give us a stronger economy, better public services and a fairer society. England in the wor world: Independence would give England a voice on the international stage, a voice we can use to promote peace, reconciliation and fairness. The FREE ENGLAND PARTY will always uphold the rule of international law. A Free England government would co-operate with international bodies to build a better and safer world for all to live in. How will England gain her independence? England will become independent when the people of England vote for it in a democratic referendum. If a majority of those who vote in a referendum vote for independence, we would call for elections to be held to elect a new English government. What happens after Independence? Once a pro-independence vote has been taken and an English government elected, we would initiate a Council of the Isles made up of the former nations of the British state to negotiate the division of assets and liabilities. We would use international law such as the Convention of Vienna, to reach decisions. Once separated from the constraints of the UK and the EU, England would be free to pursue policies for the betterment of her people 13.2 Council of the Isles Well prior to our withdrawal from the United Kingdom, we will establish with the appropriate political parties of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and with the government of the Republic of Ireland, arrangements for the successful close cooperation of all the states of the British Isles. We propose for this purpose a consultative COUNCIL OF THE BRITISH ISLES, including the Republic of Ireland. This would be based on equal representation of each state, and would coordinate policies according to the wishes of each independent state. It would meet at a mutually convenient central location within the Isles. Representatives serving on the Council would seek areas where members could co-operate for their mutual benefit. This could include freedom of movement across borders; entitlement to health care if we fall ill in another country within the region. To also participate in common procurement schemes for defence and have a common action plan for environmental protection.

I didn't read everything here, but I've got a concern regarding independence. If England were independent from the UK, then what about Scotland and Ireland- the rest of the commonwealth. Revenue from Scotland's oilfields? What impact is there, if any?
I can't read all that but why do we need that party when both UKIP and the BNP both call for withdrawal from the EU and an English parliament. The loony left will be rubbing their hands at another party been formed to split the nationalist vote. Sounds fair if that is what the people want. Looks like secession is a popular theme all over. About time for Texas to declare its Independence again as well.
I think is a brilliant idea and would like to see more development but there is a problem Brown and co along with their bed fellows i.e the undemocratic liberal party they are under the impression that the voters don't have the right to determine their own future Brown had the audacity to congratulate Kosovo yet deny the Scottish people that right , This is supposed to be a democratic country certainly NOT under despot Brown who does he think he is if as he thinks the people don't want Independence why is he and the other parties so scared of a referendum

I have always believed that England should be independent from the rest. I agree with the questioner;England should have an Independent Parliament like Scotland and Wales. I have always believed that the English taxpayer has always been a 'soft touch' for the Scots and the Welsh.
