What is are the differences between Local, State, and Federal Law Enforcements Jobs?

1. Federal law enforcement enforces federal law only. State jobs vary quite a bit, depending on the agency. Some agencies are State Police, others are State (or Highway) Patrol. The highway patrol agencies are primarily concerned with traffic safety, you do not investigate crimes. Municipal police enforce state laws and municipal ordinances. the county sheriff has primary jurisdiction in that county, and also runs the county jail.
