Do Government Jobs Require a Credit Check?
I am looking at getting a job as an Economist fresh out of college for the US Government. GS-11 or such. Will they run a credit check on me? I have miserable credit but I have paid off 1 or my 2 bad ones already. Sucks to pay your way through college. Thanks!

- When they do a background check they will check credit. Depending upon the job a security clearance may also be needed. Having debt is a threat to a security clearance as you are labeled a risk to being "bought off". Apply and see what happens. You have nothing to lose by applying. They will understand student debt.
