Is there any kind of funding I can get so I can get extra money so I can go to school and still pay my bills?

I work 10 hours a day and with the economy the way it is I don't think I will be able to find a part time job so I can go to school full time. I want to start this nursing program it is a year long and I want to know if there is any funding or any way I can get extra month every month from school loans / federal loans so I can just go to school for this full year. As of right now I am on food stamps and Medicaid I want to be able to pay my bills and not be on government assistance any more and this nursing program will make that happen. Any help would be appreciated. No insults please, I am simply trying to better myself and my family.

  1. The first thing you need to do is apply for financial aid. Go to this website to apply for the pin number to file on line, www.pin.ed.gov which can be customized. It will take about 48 hours to verify your social security number and validate your pin number. Then gather your 2008 federal tax return and go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete the fnancial aid application. You will list the school you want the information sent to. The school will offer you the grants and loans that you will be eligible for once you have been admitted. Once you have filed the form about a week to ten days later contact the financial aid office and they may be able to give you an estimate of what you would be eligible for. If you have questions contact the financial aid office and they should be able to assist you in filing the FAFSA.
  2. If you are new to the world of loans, then all the jargon and terminology can seem very confusing. There are so many different terms to understand, and unless you know some of them you will not find the best loan deal to suit your needs. Credit scoring is a method that lenders use to determine your eligibility for a loan. They ask a series of questions about your earnings and financial situation. Each answer you give is scored, and the better your score then the more likely you are to be accepted for a loan.
