I filed my federal taxes wrong. How can I correct it?
I filed my federal taxes wrong this year because I received its W2 form late. I need to include another 3 weeks (2700$ before taxes.) of taxed employment period. Any idea how to fix this situation? * I already received my return amount.

- File an amended return, Form 1040-X
- Since you have received your "tax refund" then now you should file an Amended Tax Return by filing Form 1040X. Visit IRS website www.irs.gov for information for filing an amended tax return. Processing of Form 1040X will take up to 16 weeks and if you are due a refund then IRS will mail the refund to you.
- YES. You file an amended return, 1040X. This will be a paper return and cannot be efiled. If you used software and/or efiled, go back to that source and prepare your amended return. Not a big deal. Do it before end of month to minimize any penalties and interest.
