how do i find out about federal and states taxes not being deducted from my employment check.?

I fill-out the w-2 form. I have 1 dependent and myself. I don't make that much money but I still want the federal and state taxes deducted.

  1. You completed a W-4. A W-2 is what the company sends you at the end of the year with your yearly income. When you get your paystub it will have your gross income (total income before taxes) and your net income (income after taxes). If you don't make much money, you may not have to pay income tax but you will still have to pay social security and medicare. If those deductions are not taken, it's a problem.
  2. Talk to your company's HR department or your manager if there is no HR.
