Fema Employment

Would having a record of marijuana posession prohibit government employment?

So, to restate my question...if i was caught with marijuana or under the influence of marijuana, would there be any way for me to get a job in the goverment i.e federal agent etc?

  1. you would not be the first. even bill clinton admitted to smoking pot.
  2. It could have some barring on their decision to hire you or not. However there are many government employees including our dear soldiers that have admitted to smoking pot, and have still become employees of the government. Remember our Bill of Rights was written on hemp paper after all. If you'd like to become a federal agent, ect... with top security clearance with the government be prepared to go through a long back ground check that is so through that they will go back ten years and speak with your neighbors.
  3. Very unlikely. Government jobs is a general title for working for the government. The FBI or any federal body will not hire anyone with a record of drug use/possession. You may be able to get in if you have family or connections to the department and even then it's a long shot. If you wanted to do clerical work or office type jobs for the government you would have a better chance in that area.
  4. I think as long as you test clean you will be OK. Marijuana isn't the devil it used to be. Look what alcohol does to this society. Be focused and don't smoke weed if you want to be a Fed. TOBACCO deaths per year: 340,000-450,000 ALCOHOL (Not including all alcohol related highway deaths & murders) 150,000+ CANNABIS / MARIJUANA: 0 Marijuana users also have the same or lower incidents of murders and highway deaths and accidents than the general non-marijuana using population as a whole. Call it crazy, but our government is run by a bunch of uptight assh*oles
