What percent of earning do you make while on unemployment in california.?
I make a little under 2,000 a month. I have a government job but I work for a contractor. I hear they do lay offs and a few months later they hire everyone back.

- The formula they use is a bit convoluted but roughly equates to 50% of your gross income during the qualification period. That said, every state has a maximum benefits cap. I'd imagine that the CA cap is higher than $1,000 per month -- it was nearly $1,400 per month in MO and CA has a much higher cost of living than MO does -- so you should be good using 50% for rough planning purposes.
