Fema Employment

Is this legal for my company to do?

our company sent all the workers a letter saying the following. "[company name] is seriously considering shuttering [facility location] and outsourcing operations to [name of place in India] if the United States government does not enact a comprehensive amnesty for undocumented workers within the next several months. We urge you to contact your representatives in Congress and encourage them to do so, if you wish to continue your employment." Can I report this to anyone? Is it legal for them to say that?

  1. I don't see what an amnesty has to do with outsourcing. 1. Obviously they are hiring illegals - report them to ICE. 2. Call your congressman. Only don't urge amnesty. Let us know who the company is so we can start a boycott.
  2. Why not? Aren't the people who own/run a business allowed to have an opinion on issues?
  3. This is so illegal that all I can say is you made it up
  4. It's not legal for them to make it a condition of your job to contact your rep, but they aren't actually saying that. They can't fire you if you don't do it. But they can close the whole thing down. BTW -- what makes them think that an amnesty program would allow them to pay undocumenteds less than documenteds? The whole point of hiring illegals is that they can pay them less and the illegals can't/won't complain for fear of deportation. Amnesty takes that fear away.
  5. the reason that the government will do NOTHING about the illegals is because the businesses LOBBY them to do nothing. This is so the companies can use the illegal labor to pay low wages and make HUGE profits. Some of those profits get donated to the congress people and senators. So the politicians get given money for doing nothing or for passing laws that help the compnaies. So since the govt have done NOTHING about illegals for the last 10-20 years, what makes you think they will do anything now?? ...outsourcing operations to [name of place in India]... And yes it is legal to outsource to India. Companies have been doing this for the last 10 years!!! its a lot cheaper to pay Indians than it is to pay Americans.
