HELP! Will the government be cutting back on jobs due to the economic climate?

I am interested in obtaining a graduate job in the public sector (I am a law graduate) but am a little concerned about the number of positions that will be available given the current economic climate. Does anyone know whether job-cuts are occuring in the public sector? or just the private sector? If there are government job-cuts does anyone know to what extent? I am very concerned that I will be unemployed. Thanks!

  1. to quote robert riech, advisor to the president, these jobs won't be going to white construction worker types...whatever that racist statement means..you may be ok since you're not in construction, but your race may hold you back no matter what position you are seeking..
  2. Obama will greatly expand government. You can make a fine living leeching off the working class.
  3. The way things are going government jobs are the safe ones. Maybe look that direction to ensure employment. When we turn totally to Socialism you would be better off to work for the Government. They will be the only ones that make decent money. For the rest of us it will be equal you may not make more than me. I may not make more than you. It does not apply to gov. jobs.
  4. Have no fear- Obama is here! He is growing the government to epic proportions. In fact the industries still growing are government, healthcare, and some areas of IT (security).
  5. Better do what Forrest did and join the military. They can always use a law graduate and your meals, clothes, and medical are covered. Pretty much like being in school, but the instructors are more interested in keeping their graduates alive than arguing points of law. Good luck.
  6. Haha, I've heard that government jobs will be the only ones left after this! I don't see the government cutting back on jobs at all, but I do see them expanding. They're stuck in spend-mode right now. What's a few more billion dollars for more jobs, eh? There could be local job-cuts, but federal.... I don't see that happening right now. Good luck finding a job! I also want to be involved with government! :D
