Why do liberals think government jobs will last?
When you sign on for a government job isn't there a contract and when it is over that's it they are not permanent like the Private sector is. Plus since we the people started to work for the government anyway isn't supposed to be the other way around? who are the wealthy someone who makes 250,000 or 10,000 tell me. would you see someone who use to wok for a computer company work construction no.

- You are smart, yahoo needs more people like you, kind, considerate and well mannered.
- It seems to me that government jobs are kind of like tenure. Once someone is in the system, the government doesn't care about you anymore & you keep your job forever and a day. The liberals actually like to expand government with no accountability.
- Which government jobs are you referring to?? There are indeed temporary jobs, but most government jobs are permanent hires....Social Security, State jobs.....they aren't going anywhere because people need those agencies.
- Unions try to take hold of government jobs and make them fail. The U.S. Post Office is almost bankrupt.
- By the time they get done all that will be left is government jobs......It`s there plan...... Health care is next.....oil....your 401K plan will be given to SS......and on and on
- way to optimistic about the new administration that is in the oval office
- They will last
- Government jobs are almost always permanent, its the private sector that does the most temp hiring.
- Liberals have a differernt way of thinking. They make jbs and intend them to last. Republicans on the other hand start you out as a bathroom cleaner and expect you to work your way up. For some reason these republican employees committt suicide. Wonder Why???
- As a rule, government jobs do last. But that is not the point. The idea is to get money going back into the pockets of people so that they spend again. They do a job to rebuild roads, and then they get paid for it. Then they go out and they buy products with it, thus increasing sales of a business. That in turn increases their profits, which they can then use to attract investors. More investment money coming in, added to profits, allows businesses to start hiring again. More roads allows for saved money on gas when more efficient routes to stores can be found. Repaired roads also allows for more saved money when these businesses do not have to pay so much to repair shipping fleets. Better Internet Access allows for better worker-to-worker, worker-to-business, business-to-worker, and business-to-business communication. That means better productivity. It also means another avenue of sales when many more people have access to online shopping. All of which also increase profits, and we already went through how that helped the economy in a previous paragraph. Granted, I'm writing in short, not even really sentences, sentences. But you should be able to gather what I am talking about. This plan provides more money, and the ability to use it more efficiently. It will jumpstart the private sector by getting the three components of the private sector (employee/customer, business, investor) moving again and doing their part to get the economy going again. All are too afraid right now to step up. Any one of the three have the power to fix the economy, but none are willing to step up and do it. This stimulus is the encouragement needed to get customers spending again (because they are getting money), businesses hiring again (because higher sales is leading to higher profits), and investing again (I think you get the point). Add-on: No, you would not see someone who used to work for a computer company working construction. What you would see is somebody who worked in construction getting a job again, and having money that he can then spend on products from other businesses. Then the employees of that business get paid, and they can spend on other businesses. Eventually, some of those businesses that are getting money will be computer-based businesses, or TV-based businesses, or restaurant-based businesses, or any other kind of business you'd like to fill in this blank. For people who claim to understand the economic system, Republicans seem to forget that money doesn't just stay in one place. We only need to get it moving again, and it will spread to other businesses. It's only starting in construction, it will go to other trades.
- They believe they will last because they will just raise your taxes to keep them hired. The contract for government jobs actually says they do not end until the people are in there late 50s to early 60s. At that point they retire and we pay them for the rest of their lives. For the second part you are very right. But the government has changed it's original role. It used to be only defense and and regulate trade. Now the government has stolen power.
- Why do conservatives believe tax cuts to the wealthy will create jobs?
- No, there is no such limitation except on limited term positions. Government employees typically enjoy employment until they choose to retire. or become too ill (or deceased) to continue to attend (notice I didn't say perform) their jobs. Government jobs are more lucrative in a way because if you are corrupt, you are in a position to gain compensation in return for influence, but if you are not, they pay a small fraction of what their private sector counterparts do, and the duties are often more extensive. I know a man who has been working in government jobs for nearly 50 years because he is a patriot and a servant at heart, and he could be receiving fully 3 times what he is making if he were to accept the private sector positions which have been repeatedly offered to him.
- They want to stick close to the crumbs that may fall.
- They aren't supposed to last. They are supposed to provide paychecks, so there will be spending, so the commercial banks will have money to lend, so small businesses can borrow again and thrive again, and thus make more money and create more private sector jobs to replace the government jobs, so commercial banks will have more money to lend so more small businesses will start up and hire even more people ....and so on and so on. It is a capitalist conspiracy.
- Dude, you have your premise all screwed up. Liberals and government jobs do not involve thinking. They involve doing as little as possible for the most money stolen by the unions by force of strikes, with lifetime payment for nothing and benefits unavailable to the normal private sector worker. Further, the government job cannot fail to make payroll because you and I pay it. Success in governmental jobs is based upon political good old boy cronyism.
