Federal Reserve Police?

I have applied and have been contacted by ATL branch. What should I expect of the job? Do they carry firearms both on and off duty? Patrol Cars? Are they really Federal Police.

Public Comments

  1. Federal Reserve Police are basically security guards over banks and money. A friend of mine went to work for them in Dallas in the late 80's and hated the job.... he left and went to Dallas PD in 94 and now is a LT with DPD. It's not a 'police' job as you think of.. it's sitting at a desk or standing by the door at banks or federal bank facilities. Not very exciting. But, Good Luck with your choices.
  2. All newly hired Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officers (FRLEOs) must complete the FLETC accredited FRLEO training academy. If they are successful in the academy they are sworn in as Federal Officers (just like the FBI, U.S. Marshals, etc). FRLEOs are equipped with a variety of firearms while on duty. Only a few of the larger Federal Reserve locations utilize marked patrol vehicles as most Federal Reserve Banks have no need for them. The Federal Reserve Police have only one Law Enforcement mission, to protect Federal Reserve facilities, property, and personnel. They do not investigate crime, chase down bad guys, or have any authority while off duty. If that is what you are looking for then I highly advise you to seek employment elsewhere.
