Does joining the peace corps prevent you from getting a federal job?
I heard that after being a volunteer in the Peace Corps you are disqualified from attaining a security clearance and therefore ineligible for many types of federal employment and military service. I'm asking because I would like to join the FBI after my service.
Public Comments
- No it does not.
- You cannot work in any intelligence field of the government, namely the CIA. However, after successfully completing your service, you are given noncompetitive consideration for government jobs, so you don't have to compete with people applying from the public sector.
