US and Canada, what is the truth?

Is it really true that the USA is the reason why Canada's economy and employment rate is going down? The government said that the USA is dragging us (Canadians) down because of their economic problems. The USA is on a downward spiral to nowhere, and will drag us down with them. 1. There is a worldwide economic slowdown. Canada is not exempt.
2. Well, the credit problems in the States was a catalyst for a lot of the problems we're currently facing, but the global economy is slowing down everywhere, and would have even if the bottom didn't fall out of the housing market. We're just a part of the global slowdown/
3. It's definately part of it. Canada became the U.S.A.'s #1 oil importer followed by an increase in oil to almost $150. That put Canada on track to become the new Saudi with princes riding around in lamborghini's. Now they are on a different track.
