Computer expert Prashant Chopra pleads in child sex sting Posted by Maggi Martin July 30, 2008 15:42PM Categories: Breaking News Cleveland -- A computer technology expert who helped program local college computers pleaded guilty on Wednesday for trying to arrange sex with a 12-year old girl. Prashant Chopra, 30, of Cleveland Heights, pleaded guilty in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court to three counts of importuning and one attempted abduction. He remains free on a $250,000 bond but had to forfeit his 2006 Mercedes that he drove in to meet the girl. His computers were seized by police. Ryan Miday, a spokesman for the Cuyahoga County prosecutor's office, said Chopra began chatting with a person he thought was a 12-year-old girl last July. The 12-year-old was actually an undercover police officer in the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Chopra drove in his Mercedes to meet the girl for sex and was arrested in September. Chopra, who lives in a $1 million mansion, worked as an Internet technology consultant at CampusEAI Consortium which helps universities and governments incorporate the latest Internet technologies. 1. I found another link, so I updated my answer. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008/10/prashant_chopra_avoids_prison.html According to the article, his doctor testified that he has completed counseling and is not a threat to re-offend. I certainly don't agree with it, but that is the justification the judge used.
  2. He didn't walk. He's out on bond, that just means he paid to be released until his sentencing. He will get prison time, don't worry. It even says he will be sentenced in September. That does seem awfully long, unless this article is outdated.
  3. Uh, read the very bottom sentence to your news article you posted. He will be sentenced in September. He is currently out on a quarter million dollar bond while he waits on sentencing.
  4. I can belive this guy walked. It just goes to show you that the law is not always fair. Judges and police are peopleto. But they need to be held accountable when they do something wrong like not give someone like this guy enough time while they would throw the book at others. Have a blessed day. Smile
  5. Because he has a lot of money..
