- depends on what the job is.......try going to your state website and check for when they give tests....for a variety of positions...often there is a book that you can use to study in preparation for the test....
- My husband worked for the County, and I worked for the City. The benefits are wonderful and the pay keeps up with cost of living. If a city is doing well, the employees get a raise once per year. If you continue to work about 10 years (longer in other cities), the employee receives a pension after they reach the age of 60 (62 in some states). If you keep yourself out of debt, this pension and your Social Security will give you a very good living. Hint: before you retire pay off your car and your house if possible. You will need all the money you can get for cost of living such as taxes, food, clothing, rent. It is well worth the effort to keep going back and filling out applications with the city or county. Don't give up. A job will come along sooner or later. Be sure to give them a good 8 hours of work per day. They do not tolerate drugs or alcohol.
- i got a volunteer job at veteran affairs when i was 14, last summer. all i did was give them my resume and stuff, it was very easy and nice, but i don't know if they will give you a paying job
- I'm in college now and I have a government job as a student. It's decent and teaches you a lot. All you need is a high school diploma and be a college student. Check out USAjobs. There's a lot of postings there.
- I was a paid intern at the Sheriff's Office and I went to an interview to work at the Department of Commerce; the Department of Commerce job came through the Academy of Finance program I was in at my school and I guess it was required that I had some kind of knowledge of financing
