Government Jobs???

I'm a college student, 19, and looking for a good job...My boyfriend is in the Army and he told me i should look for a government job (Like working for my county) because they usually have good pay, good hours, and you only work mon-fri and no holidays. Right now im a cake decorating apprentice and im not liking it. I have to be up at 4:30 in the morning and on my feet for 9 hrs a day...i'm usually working every weekend and holiday.and I'm getting 7$ a hour for it. Does anybody have a government job? Any suggestions on how to get the job??

  1. you could get a job in the army but any other high paying job will need an extensive amount of education. only being a college student probably won't get you too far unless you are an intern (aka not getting paid).
  2. What is your major in college try to look for something that involves around your major. Having a government job is very good to have but you need to have a hook up especially when you don't have an education to back it up, for example someone you know that works in a government job could help you get in but if you don't know that someone just stick to finishing your schooling and then get that government job you want hey at least when you do try to get that job you want you have your bachelor or masters backing you up.
  3. Check the employment section on your or surrounding county's county's websites for entry level positions that match your skill set. Also, yet the website for your state to see if there is state employment opportunities listed in your area. Good luck!
