Fema Employment

How would to tactfully tell a coworker to mind their own business?

I am planning a career move from public education (9 years) to the federal government (more money). The person conducting my background investigation went by my place of employment asking lots of questions about my character. Now that the word is out that I may be leaving soon. I am being asked lots of personal questions by people that I do not know very well. I would like some recommendations on how to gracefully tell them that while I appreciate their concern; I am not confortable discussing my personal life with them. I work in a vicious rumor mill.

  1. i would just let them know that you really dont want to discuss the issue any longer , 1)i really dont feel conferable discussing this issue any longer, dont take it offensive at all its nothing personal
  2. I left a job last year, and frankly experienced the same type of issue. My response, after several tries, became. Thanks for asking me and not just listening to all the rumors. Its something that is personal and I am sure you will understand if I dont want to discuss it at this time. But I really do appreciate your concern and it means so much to me that you would come to me personally.
