Where do I apply for a union job? How do I join a union in CA?
I am currently looking for a job in Orange County with the security that a job with union membership provides. Anybody with info please pass it along, I will be most grateful. Any open local, civic or federal goverment positions too. Was recently layed off from the mortgage industry as a loan processor. Thank you.

- i would look into it, i know that most city bus driver jobs are union, police are union, etc... look around
- Ask the place you are applying too. When you are hired, they give you an amount of time to join the union.
- i have no idea. i don't live in California. but i would try search on the Internet in your local area.
- look in the phone book for the union you wish to join such as the carpenters or long shoremens nearest local. call them and you usually will have to pay an initiation fee and union dues. that will get you on a call list for job openings in the trade or craft that you wish to persue.
- Joining a Union is easy and in most cases mandatory.. First, you have to find a job that has a Union.. then when you land the job, the Union, in all likelihood, will contact you as they do not like people to work in a unionized place who are NOT union members.. Your problem now.. is GETTING THE JOB Geetting the job.. either from word of mouth.. or look in the want ads.. You can even go to (as a lot of my friends have done)monster.com (on the Internet), fill out the stuff they ask for and companies will come looking for you. Check also to see if Orange has a MANPOWER Company.. That is a Temporary hire place. It is also a good place to get hooked up to.... and eventually land you a full-time job.
- you go to a temp service in ca and tell them that you want to work in the union, how ever most jobs are union but the real good paying ones are the union trades which you have to go to trade school to get a trade see i lived in riverside ca and i did work for the street dept. of riverside which was concrete any job you get as a city worker is a union job i went to the city hall and applied there for any city jobs that were available
