Federal Employment earned leave rate?
I retired from the military last year. I do not have a disability, and was not in the middle east during active duty. I now have a job with the federal government and I'm earning 4 hours of annual leave per pay period. I was reading the manuals and I think this is correct. People I work with are telling me I should be earning more leave, but I didn't discharge, I retired. Does anyone know for sure if 4 hours is correct? I only have six months in the job. Thanks.

- Your first 3 yrs you get 4 hrs per pay period. 4th yr through 15 yrs you get 6 hrs per pay period. At 15 yrs you bounce to 8 hrs per pay period. Sick leave stays at 4 yrs per pay period the whole time. Here is the chart: http://www.opm.gov/oca/leave/HTML/ANNUAL.asp
- How long were you in the military? If you retired after 20 - 30 years, their may be "double dipping" type rules in effect. I was discharged after 4 years of service and it counted towards my annual leave. You BEST source for an accurate answer is you human resources office.
