More than 90 men across Australia have been arrested or summonsed to court over the child porn sweep, including an Australian Federal Police officer, four teachers, youth workers, bankers and company directors, The Australian reports. The arrests followed a six-month sting into internet child pornography that originated in Europe. More arrests are expected in coming weeks with at least 1500 Australians - using 2883 IP addresses - under investigation. It's scary no matter what, but even worse that it was people in jobs with children. Do you trust your kids teachers? Do you trust anyone? Do you think it makes it that much worse because of the jobs these people are in? Or is what they did bad no matter who did it? . I'm not judging teachers..... I'm just asking if you trust them? I'm not saying all teachers are bad....... if I thought all teachers were bad I'm not so sure i'd be using a computer right now.

Parents need to be vigilant, and they also need to watch out for the things their children are not saying, especially when a child is upset for no apparent reason... The majority of teachers, clergy and coaches are wonderful people with the best interests of the children in mind. Those few who are preying on innocent children must be stopped. Our priest once wanted out son to come alone to the rectory to watch a football game. That was a HUGE no from us. A parent never knows...
I am a US teacher and I would be very disappointed if you didn't trust me. The vast majority of teachers are well adjusted, caring people who give up the "good things in life" to teach. Teaching doesn't pay much. Like every professional or place in the world, bad apples exist. Talking in generalities like you wrote in your question is never a good idea. Believe me when I say that parents always watching and should be. The job has alot of pressure from all sides. Someone who is not strong mentally could end up driven crazy by children's behavior and society's pressure these days. A person's life could be a very sad one if they do not have trust in teachers, policeman, fireman, etc.

As a worker in domestic violence, incest and rape, I applaud you for posting this thread in Y!A. I think it's a very good question, and I don't understand why someone responded with "I am a US teacher and I would be very disappointed if you didn't trust me" followed with "Talking in generalities like you wrote in your question is never a good idea." I disagree. I didn't feel that you made any sweeping generalisations. You asked whether or not we should have blind faith in anyone who works with children. That is a fair question to ask. Society seems to have a mythical image of who perpetrates sexual violence against children. There is often a stereotype that perpetrators are gay, live in their parent's basement, and seem "odd". People don't seem to understand that *anyone* could sexually abuse children. There are generally no markers. There is no such thing as "he looks like a creep who would do that". Unfortunately, that myth perpetuates the difficulty that children face when wanting to disclose abuse. They are often told that no-one would believe them. Unfortunately, unless the perpetrator has distinctive features that don't resonate with the stereotype, children are often accused of lying. I've heard ridiculous statements from friends/family of perpetrators such as "he's a top bloke. He wouldn't do that; he's *NORMAL*" Society needs to understand that it's healthy to practice a cautious level of (mis)trust with ppl who work with children. Obviously I'm not saying that we should assume that anyone who works with kids will abuse them. I am saying though, that we should all have awareness that *anyone* could potentially be a perpetrator.
i have no kids sorry but i dont trust teachers priests, vicars , people who live alone, this world is now a dangerous place for all our young, youth today and much more stronger measures on these websites need enforcing these so called chat rooms need stricter guidelines rules regulations, and the age to go on them does want increasing, from 13, to 16 or 18 even, a seperate website should be enforced for 13yr olds and only that age group should go on it,i think all websites should be interlinked with a local police station they should be monitoring it all day.
