What career could i start now?

I have 2 bachelors degrees in law enforcement, and the second in national security. I'm 22 and i have worked as a seasonal police officer for 4 years. I worked as a county ranger, but i was laid off in January. My dream is to be a full-time police officer in NJ, but the trend in NJ is to lay off police officers and various law enforcement personal. I really want a career in NJ. I have applied to hundreds of federal jobs, but i never get a call back. i assume it is because i'm not a vet. I have taken every local police test in last 3 years and always score well, but i have no luck. I need to do something with my life, and really want a career.

  1. It sounds like you are doing everything right. Just remain persistent.
  2. It probably has something to do with your lack of hands on experience. Sounds like you are well educated and have the desire to start your career. After you interview, have you tried calling to follow up and sending a thank you card to the interviewer for taking the time to see you? These little things can make all the difference in the world. Have you considered networking locally to see if you can meet the right people who may be able to help you with your career goals? Often it's who you know. Additionally, the company I'm with is expanding in the NJ area and we're looking for some sharp people. Perhaps you may know someone who would be a perfect fit.
