Will a law degree ever make me finding a job with the Secret Service or FBI any easier? what are my chances?

I am 19yrs. old and I have a dream to become a federal agent or work for the governments secret service, i am enrolling myself in Kaplan University online to study law . i wanted to know if anyone who has ever been in my shoes, wondering if this school just wants my money and time, or if they really mean i can land a top job with the government someday working to protect very important people of our government and help prevent as well as investigate terroristic attacks. how many years of school will this take? how much money? what kind of classes? I do not want to be a police officer in some little town, I want to go federal, work in the white house someday, you know attend speeches given by the president and have the duty to protect him. Someone that knows more than myself please give me some advise? tell me what i should know, and if my dreams are even possible by the route i am taking.

  1. Criminal Justice might be better, and military service (military intelligence or military police) would probably help a lot too. Good Luck!
  2. The FBI and other federal agencies recruit law students. You can start working for them over the summer as interns. But I don't know if they have any requirements about you going to an unaccredited online school like Kaplan. You should check the FBI website: http://www.fbijobs.gov/ for specific requirements.
