what are the rules/guidelines for advertising local and central government jobs in the UK?
are there any standard rules or guidelines for advertising local and central government jobs in the UK? Eg. the job needs to advertised to the public for x amount of days in local press......

- As far as I know goverment jobs have firstly to be made available to existing civil servants as redeployment opportunities for those facing compulsory redundancies then as promotion opportunites. Then they are advertised locally in the press and nationally on the civil service recruitment gateway (website). Not sure about local goverment jobs.
- The jobs are advertised in press .Private job portals like www.jobs.ac.uk eujobster.com/London also carry the information !!
