Should people in government jobs be allowed to unionize?

Honestly, should things such as teachers unions exist? These jobs are paid for by tax dollars, and they are empolyees of the state, public servants. Should Public servants be allowed to unionize?

Public Comments

  1. No!!! people in government should not be allow to bread ;-)
  2. Yes. Public servants deserve fair wages. If teachers didn't demand raises, they would never get them. The administrators make huge sums of money and their are far too many of them. Unions are going to become much more prevalent what with the CEOs making 400 times what the workers make.
  3. Of course--and they are allowed to unionize. The teachers union (all government employees) is still one of the most powerful unions in America. The Air Traffic Controllers (all federal employees) had a union--right up to the time that they lost their jobs. They have a right to form a union to register any complaint they want. And, the government has the right to fire the entire lot (as they did with the Air Traffic Controllers) if they go on strike. The power of a union says you are all lumped together. In the case of the Air Traffic Controllers, they all were lumped together right out of their $64,000.00 a year jobs. Sure, they should be able to organize themselves.
  4. Teachers, yes. Civil Service employees, no.
