What looks good in an application?
I put this in the Business: Careers and Employment because I figured you would know the most about applications. I am applying for something called "Keystone Youth Policy Summit." It is a week-long trip for 4 students from my high school to Colorado to meet with 9 other high schools. It is about energy efficiency, and we meet with experts on the field. We are writing some policy for the federal government. I really don't want to screw this application up. What should I say? I've already expressed my interest and considerable knowledge in the subject, but what else should I say? Would it be good to say I'd enjoy a trip to Colorado, or would they be like "PWNT! He just wants a free vacation."? Any help is appreciated.

- How about saying that you'd love the opportunity to travel and meet with students from other areas who are as passionate about energy efficiency as you.
- An overall appreciation of the meeting locale is always a good note to mention in your ap. Although THOSE IN CHARGE OF THOSE ACCEPTED should base thier decisions on the applicants "overall knowledge" of the summit, many factors are taken into effect to slant their decisions. The many (cross-country) summits I have attended each required an overall knowledge and specific targeted goal for the trip to justify the expense of the travels. My suggestion is to research who and how are these *decision-makers* and to understand what key ideas they are seeking in an applicant. Yes, this will require extensive research on your part, but you will appreciate learning the background of the trip you will take.
