Resume for Federal Government Job?

I'm applying for a job with the federal government. It says the application package should include a standard form application OR optional form application OR a resume. My first instinct would always lean to submitting a resume. However, there are very specific things they want on the resume..like high school education even if you have college educ.? That's kind of pointless to me sense it requires a diploma/GED to go to college. Anyway, they also want things like your supervisor's name and address for your previous/current job, you SSN, your citizenship status, and many more odd things that would ruin any resume I've ever made. I'm thinking it would be easier to just do the form and make a quality KSAO document to go with it. Any experience with this would be very helpful. I have Resume and Cover Letter writing guides, but this is for a federal job. Their format and length and pretty much everything is completely different. I was just wondering if anyone has ever experienced applying and could reference me to a good site just to see an example of resume and KSAO's.

  1. im currently applying for a lot of jobs in the fed gov too...ya, their process is a bit different from private sector. I just usally go with their forms because I give them exactly what they're looking for. They can be really anal aboutthe whole process, if you don't include a certain thing you're out of consideration for the job....
